The Hawkbill

This Vosteed Griffin is a production version of R.S. Knifeworks (Rob Saniscalchi)’s custom knife.

The 3.49” hawkbill is made from Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel. With its unique geometry, the talon on this beast is imbued with tons of cutting and slashing power.

The combination of low tip as well as a curved edge is not only good for cutting open boxes, slicing tape, and stripping wires but also performs great for jobs like pruning and trimming.

The Ergonomics

The slim G10 handle has a dedicated cutout that makes it in alignment with the blade when opened, and your thumb and index finger can sit comfortably on it, ensuring a confident grip.

The handle is ergonomically designed to fit both medium and large paws. The almost full length vibrant-colored G10 backspacer contrasts with the handle, adding extra aesthetics to the Griffin.

The Action

With its liner lock mechanism and ceramic ball bearing system, the Griffin offers effortless one-handed operation.

Plus, it comes with various deployment options like the Front Flipper, Back Flipper, and Thumbhole, ensuring a fully loaded fidget experience.

Specialized blade, could use a better handle

It goes through cardboard almost effortlessly, which makes it great at a common task. However, the handle is just a little too thin and uncomfortable to make it something you want for more than occassional tasks. Add in the length and shape and it's not a very good fit for EDC either.

I would love to see a future version with a more comfortable handle. Right now it sits in my tool bag only for processing boxes now and then.

A very interesting knife with an awesome grind

If you are looking for an unusual but fully functional folder, with a very efficient dual grind recurved 3.5" blade.
The 14c28n steel is an excellent choice to back up this very capable blade.
The only downside of this knife is the placement of the clip. It is clearly a deep carry form factor, but very too low to make the knife discreet in the pocket.
